Beauty Look: Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage

I've wanted an eye color quad from Tom Ford for the longest time now and I finally took the plunge. It was hard choosing just one because I wanted them all. I knew if I was only to buy one it would need to be one I could use on any given day. Cocoa Mirage won my heart over as it was the least shimmery and I think it is easily workable for day or evening wear. I'm in love!

Here's a look I created for a wedding I attended last week and the products I used are listed below.

Face
Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Fluide Foundation in Cashew
Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in no. 2
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure

Eyes
Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Cocoa Mirage (all colors)
Tarte Tarteist Clay Paint Liner
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara
Ardell Demi Wispies Lases
Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob
MAC Lipstick in Plumful

Review: Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow

I've been lusting over this sculpt and highlighting duo for such a long time now. I've finally taken the plunge and purchased one after hearing/reading so many great reviews on it. I got mine off BeautyLish for $68USD if any of you guys from Australia wanted to get your hands on one.

The packaging itself is just stunning and feels ultra luxurious. The outer-box has been well thought out, revealing the gorgeous rose gold palette inside. I feel so glamorous just from picking it up :P

Being a combination skin gal it's always a challenge to find a product that helps me achieve that healthy glow without looking like a grease ball by the afternoon. With this I can still use my favourite semi-matte to matte bases underneath and still get that look of almost dewy skin. Not to mention it lasts throughout the day without wearing off. I even wore this combo and forgot blush one day and my colleagues didn't think I look washed out at all. They couldn't even tell I wasn't even wearing blush until I told them. Which is a good thing.

The bronzer/sculpting powder itself is very flattering on my skin tone. Its also not too dark which makes it easy to control. I absolutely love the highlighting shade as it isn't too gold or too pink and isn't too shimmery. I tried taking photos with me wearing the duo but my photography skills are still too amateur. The best I could do was with an iPhone selfie. Sorry it's a little blurry.

Ever since I received it in the mail I haven't been reaching for anything else. I will definitely be taking this on my travels to the States in the coming weeks. Now I really want to get an eyeshadow quad from Charlotte Tilbury but I'm not sure which to get first. Any suggestions?

Rating: 5/5

If you have tried Charlotte Tilbury cosmetics, which product is your favourite? I'm going to Hawaii, Las Vegas and Houston soon what can you recommend I pick up on my trip?

Review: YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats #210 Nude Accoustic

YSL's Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks are one of my favourite lipstick formulas of all time. I almost feel like they don't receive the attention they're worth as they aren't as pretty on the outside as the Rouge Voluptes. I purchased Rouge Pur Couture The Mats in #210 (Nude Accoustic) a couple of weeks back together with the ever so popular #52.

Review: Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control

I mentioned back in June that I have been caught up on one of the latest beauty trends to hit Korea  -  cushions! In the last two years almost every Korean beauty brand has come up with some sort of cushion concept makeup, some offering many different ones to suit different needs.
If you're not familiar with cushion compacts they are designed to be and easier and more convenient way to apply your base makeup. Perfect for a girl on the go. I can remember back when BB creams were the latest craze the idea was to pat and press on the product with your fingers and the puff in way mimics that action.
My interest in cushions was sparked with IOPE Air Cushion XP which offered a more dewy finish. I really liked it but when I found out that Laneige was releasing the BB Cushion (Pore Control) I knew I had to pick it up knowing it's more ideal for oilier skin types or humid conditions.

Review: Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet

As promised, here is my review on Chanel's Perfection Lumiere Velvet (PLV) foundation. Sorry it's been long overdue but I've now finished up the bottle and I am still deciding whether I should repurchase it or not. I guess we'll find out together at the end of this review.

April Favourites

Hello! Sorry I haven't posted in two weeks as I have been a feeling unwell but I'm back with my favourites for the month of April.

Cleansing Water Comparisons (Caudalie, Bioderma and Garnier)

Today, I have a trio of micellar cleansing waters I want to share my thoughts on with you. I'm no science expert so I'm not even going to attempt to explain how micellar technology works but Lab Muffin has a post that explains it very clearly with diagrams here if you're interested.

I'm a firm believer in double cleansing. I usually follow the cleansing water with a cleanser and my Clarisonic unless of course it's been a crazy day and I only have enough energy to remove my makeup. Find out which is my favourite after the jump!

Preview: Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet and Dentelle Precieuse Illuminating Powder

I must confess, I'm Chanel kind of girl and it extends to cosmetics as well. I generally do like their foundations but was on the fence on Perfection Lumiere as it can look a little too heavy at times. When I heard they were releasing a lighter alternative I picked one up as soon as it hit counters here in Australia. I also couldn't resist this pretty little limited edition illuminating powder called Dentelle Precieuse which translates to "precious lace". I was matched with 20 Beige in the new Perfection Lumiere Velvet.

In closer detail without flash, you can see the intricacy of the lace impression on the powder. This one will definitely hurt to use. It's just so gorgeous you would want to keep it in new condition. Such a shame as its a limited edition much like my all time favourite highlighter from Chanel, Lumiere Sculptee De Chanel. However, I'm not the type to buy two of the same colour item. As much as I like it, it would take me ages to go through one as I am constantly buying and trying something new.

I'm going to test this new foundation out for the next week or two and check back with you. So stay tuned and follow me for upcoming reviews if you haven't already. Hopefully it'll be a favourite.

Mini Illamasqua Haul

Just a short post tonight, before I go to bed. I picked up several items from Illamasqua today some of which I have been eyeing for a while now. They are just so pretty lined up together.

From left to right:
Nail Varnish in Harem
Nail Varnish in Blizzard
Nail Varnish in Grab
Shattered Stars Nail Varnish in Trilliant
Glamore Lipstick in Luster

Believe it or not, amongst all the pink lipsticks I own (at least dozen I'd say) I don't have one close like Luster. A friend of mine had it on and I knew I had to have it!

Review: Benefit The POREfessional Agent Zero Shine

I was immediately attracted to this product because of its packaging. How incredibly travel friendly! I must confess I'm a loose powder kind of girl but it is a nightmare to carry around. Agent Zero Shine is so cute and compact I have no problems at all taking it with me whenever I need to touch up.

How to use it?

The packaging allows for super easy application especially when you're out and about. The mouth of the bottle resembles that of baby powder, which makes it spill proof. Remove the cap, twist open the chamber, tap the appropriate amount of product into the lid and sweep! It is even equipped with a hidden brush in the base. The brush itself is really soft, especially for something that came together with a powder. No scratchy brush here and a brush is always more hygienic. It's super easy to use, I probably didn't even need a mirror.

Results

Agent Zero Shine claims to:
- Minimises shine: tick!
- Smooths the look of pores: tick!

It definitely delivers what it promises. It pairs well with multiple base products. Chanel's CC Cream, Giorgio Armani's Maestro Foundation and Skin79 BB Cream just to name a few. It eliminates shine and minimizes pore with ease.

I also tried using this product to set my base makeup to test out it how well it performs in the oil control department. I didn't see any mentions of oil control on the packaging but you would assume a product called Agent Zero Shine would keep oiliness at bay. I was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. The shine surfaced around the 6 hour mark in my oily t-zone. Compared with other setting powders I own, this one was not the standout. Tarte's Smooth Operator is still my HG.

Would I repurchase?

Yes. I liked the packaging concept of the Agent Zero Shine it's definitely my favourite touch up companion so far. However, I still prefer other powders to set as I feel the oil control is better. If only it was refillable with any powder of choice.
